Aboriginal Veterans Day Marked With Pride...

    From APTN National News:

Aboriginal Veterans Day is officially recognized in only one Canadian province.

Manitoba has commemorated the day since 1994.

On Tuesday, one of the few national veterans events was held in a small Manitoba community called Arborg, which is located near the Peguis First Nation.

APTN National News reporter Matt Thordarson travelled to the local Legion there for the ceremony.

Very cool. Should be recognized officially at the Federal level. Would go a long way to correcting a lot of misconceptions folks have about the Native portion of the population.

I remember the year my Grandfather was invited to Ottawa, for official recognition of Aboriginal Soldiers, in Canadian conflicts.

I was the first and last time I would ever see him cry.

It was the first time 'Amazing Grace' played by the 48th Highlanders, made me cry like a baby.
