    Question for Christians.

I'm kind of ercked... That's slang for upset in a disturbed way.

As a Christian I kind of expect my fellow Christians to help out in a time of need. A few months back my car caught on fire and I became carless. My current budget allowed for a PoS. Piece of Shit.

So I came up with what I thought was a great idea. I'd ask for churches in my area to donate toward a car that will look good and run nice. After the donation were in and I had bought the car I'd wrap the car in a Christian add of some kind. After the car was made up in a Christian theme I'd drive the car to church socials and fund raising events.

If you don't know what a car wrap is, this place explains it.

So, after much work I located 80 churches in my area. Talked with all of them about the idea and then was flatly turned down by each and every one of them.

I realize that the idea sounds insane to some atheist.
But as a Christian we're mostly about spreading the word of God and I thought, there is no better way to get a good running vehicle and spread the word of God.

My mistake. I got left in the cold faster then a bad habit.
I guess my point is, if you're a Christian in need of help, don't turn to other Christians.

    Views, thoughts?

Doesn't wrapping a car in Christian vinyl cheapen the religion a little? I can understand wrapping a vehicle for commercial advertising but for religions it's a little gaudy.

I'm an 'atheist' but I don't think that idea sounds too bad. I just think it sounds a tad opportunistic, which could be why your fellow Christians turned you down. I think you would have had better luck collecting money to put the wrap on your POS.

You could try Pimp my ride...seriously. That might work.
If I told you my printing was this good, would you believe me?

They have Christian auto shows here in Michigan. I figured if anything, it'd be good to see at events like that.

You could be right though. I guess I didn't bother to look at it that way. I was thinking it'd be cool advertisement at fund raising events and so on. Especially here in Michigan, what once was the motor capital.

The Church I go to runs a deficit each year. It has no 'extra' money to spend. Its advertizing budget is the postage required to mail an ad into the local free rag. They would have no money to fund a car which would likely have little impact on growing the size of the flock.

Plus, to be honest, if I was on the committee hearing this request, I would probably conclude this was a sham. Besides as a good Christian you should be spreading the word yourself by putting the ads on whatever car you do buy free of charge.

I did take that into account. I know the churches I visit on a regular basis live on a deficit. But I also know that when events happen outside of the church things can be done to help with those events.

Which I suggested when I talked to the churches.

I planned on an art contest for the theme to be added to the car.
    Or
Having the kids in Sunday class draw what they thought should go on the car, and pictures from each church would go on the wrap.

a vehical in most eyes is not considered a necessity... if it had been food, clothing or shelter, or even pay a diconnection notice that may have been different.. when I first started reading your post I thought of one of those vans that say.. believe in God you will be saved etc....

I'd have to know an awful lot more about your situation before I'd go for a project helping raise money for a car. I'd have to know where you live and the transit system if any. I'd have to know if you have other assets you could liquidate to purchase a car. I would have to know you have the ongoing income to sustain a vehicle...the list goes on. What you need is a business plan that covers all that. Plus you have to remember that donations to you would not be tax deductible.

God helps those that help themselves...

Your problem lies in your understanding of Christianity.

    How old are you?

Why not pray and i mean actually pray for the means to be able to fix and wrap a car this way by yourself no matter how long it takes!!!!

make it your life ambition ....you sort of put yourself in a position where you better do so or move and pretend you never asked this of your church....80 churches huh...thats a loit of spare time you got on your hands

I have an admittedly bleak outlook on Church's and the people who run them. It's been my experience that a Church most times is a business. As such, they are out to make money, not give it away.
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional minority, and rabidly promoted by the mainstream media which holds forth that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end
