Having an orderly, organized, and well-moderated Forum makes browsing and discussions better. And more importantly, it attracts more visitors to join.

Moderation does not only include moving or managing posts and threads. But it also involves moderating or managing the Forum members. Every Forum has its own Rules and Regulations which every member should abide. And Forum Moderators should see to it that members do not stray away from those guidelines.

So an Infraction Systemhas been put up which is a good way to manage those members who violate the Forum Rules or display inappropriate behavior.

The user Infraction System is designed to automate the management of misbehaving users and removing the "hard decision" making process from the administrative staff.

Currently, The Peace Arch has these levels of infraction…..

  2. Advertisements, 1 point, 15 Day(s)
  3. Cross Posting, 1 point, 15 Day(s)
  4. Signature Rule Violation, 1 point, 5 Day(s)
  5. Flaming, 2 points, 15 Day(s)
  6. Copyright Infringement, 3 points, 30 Day(s)
  7. Trolling, 3 points, 30 Day(s)
  8. Inappropriate Content, 3 points, 30 Day(s)
  9. Soliciting Members, 3 points, 30 Day(s)
  10. Lack of Civility, 3 points, 30 Day(s)
  11. Double Account, 5 points, 30 Day(s)


Each infraction level has an expiration time. When the infraction expires, the associated points are removed from the users' point total and the users' infraction points are recalculated.

Please note that infraction points are cumulative. Should a member receive an infraction prior to the expiration of a previous infraction, the new infraction extends the expiration period by the number of days allocated for that infraction.

Example: Member receives an infraction for Trolling on January 1st. This member will receive 3 points which will be on members record for 30 days. On January 10th, the member receives another infraction for posting nonsense, which will add another 1 point and extend the duration of the infraction for another 15 days.

Infraction levels can also be allowed to be given as warnings. A warning does not add any infraction point to the users' point total. Warnings serve as a method to remind users of our forums rules and encourage them to be followed without awarding infraction points.

An accumulation of 10 points will automatically place the member in the Miserable Usergroup for a period of ten days.

An accumulation of 20 points will automatically place the member in the Suspended Usergroup for a period of twenty days.

An accumulation of 20 infractions will automatically place the member in the Banned Usergroup for a period of one month.

The Administrator of The Peace Arch reserves the right to implement infractions and changes from one usergroup to another at his discretion.
