    Wish list (sigh)

I've always dreamed of a large format camera for shooting landscapes and architectures. And I've always had a weakness for Linhof models. Who knows maybe someday I'll be able to afford to luxury cause this model is worth roughly 8K US.. and that's with nothing. No tripod for it, but at least I think it should come with 1 back at least.. I'll have to check on that. But boy.. what fabulous pictures this jewel takes.. *sigh*

I'll bet the film and processing costs a fortune too!

Albeit nowhere near the quality, you can do the same with a digital camera using software that stitches photos together.

You can set it on a tripod and take 10% overlapping pics to cover the panorama or even complete 360 degree shot.

The software puts them together and a viewer allows you to pan around, zoom in etc. like you were there.

Cool 360 is the app. It came with one of my first digital cameras (HP).

Indeed, developing and printing it isn't that band though.. but buying a box of 4x5 sheet-film though.. ouch.. Not to mention just buying the camera and start shooting is a job in itself. Because with a camera like that, you take about 30 mins to take your shot hehe gota be perfect on the first try. then you have to sheild the back where the film is, remove it, take it to a dark room or dark box, extract the film, and reinsert another.

So when you get this sort of camera, you have to get additional backs for it, and they're not cheap. about another 1K for each depending on the model you get. There are some backs that can contain more than 1 sheet of film.

But the REAL beauty of this size film/negatives though.. 4 inches X 5 inches is big enough that when it's made into a negative you hardly need to print it because in its original state you can see the image quite clearly already.

But the grain per square inch is so high that even a 2400 ASA film looks grainless once printed. Even a 25asa/iso 35mm film can't compare to that sort of image quality.

    Drooooooooooool!!!

Mamiya unveils new Mamiya 645DF camera body

Mamiya has unveiled the Mamiya 645DF at the Photo Imaging 2009. The Mamiya 645DF, of which a prototype is shown, is a camera body designed for exclusive use with digital backs. The camera specifications are: 6 x 4.5 cm format, electronically controlled focal plane shutter, TIL multi-mode, AE, AF Single Lens Reflex for digital use. Image size: 56 x 41.5 mm. The body can be used with other recently released prototypes: the multi-battery grip G8401 and the new AF 80mm F2.8 LS D Sekor lens. Price and delivery schedule are to be determined...
This new Mamiya medium format is just a dream for any enthusiast!! Compatible for both Digital and Film formats (YUMMMMYYYYY!!!) Also fully compatible with Mamiya's generic lens systems. but Mamiya is also releasing their old "Leaf shutter system" once again. Can't imagine how much those will run for but you couldn't ask for a better shutter system, perfect for full flash sync at any shutter speeds. This one also makes my wish list.
