Karrie--fair enough, I do tend to be overprotective of my faith. I can see how maybe it was ME who was making a mountain out of your molehill--that and being swept up in the remarks of others. For that I apologize to you.
MR--I walk my faith, I don't just talk it. In fact, until I met Tam, I always felt I had to keep it a big secret. My mom knows, but my dad does not. He is a southern baptist and would automatically jump to the conclusion I was a satanist.
I do write books, but not about my faith. For two reasons. First, Wicca is a very personal thing. It is dynamic in that each person chooses what elements they adhere to. More on that in a sec. Second because I really don't know enough about it to impart knowledge to others. I write about what I know: Paranormal research. I don't write about ghosts, I write about researching them and what research I have done. My books don't even presume that the reader believes in ghosts.
But I digress. You asked about Gods and Goddesses. Some pagans believe that the gods and goddesses are actually separate entities, each to be worshiped. But they all tie together, interdependent, and working for the greatest good. (Good not God). For me, I have a similar belief, but I believe my gods and goddesses are actually part of one God, the same God as the Christian, Jewish etc God, and by knowing them as different parts of God I learn. When I do spellwork (prayer) I don't do it for the benefit of the gods and goddesses. I go straight to the source with that. But I occasionally will invoke the spirit/energy of a particular god or goddess depending on what he/she represents. And I have a favorite, as most do--I think Tam's is Pan--who is not really even a goddess. I seek her spirit occasionally, knowing that "she" is only a personification of a faction of "God". Sort of like people who believe in the trinity--that each part of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is a faction of the One God.
My personal "goddess" is Morgana, or Morgan La Fay, who really wasn't a goddess at all. She was a magician among other things, and she struggled with right and wrong much as I have struggled. She is a mythological character based probably on Modren--the devine mother--who was a Gaulish Goddess. Anyway, when I need immediate help or something casual I use Morgana. (PS for Ski who is hearing of Morgana for the first time--she is also known as "The Lady in the Lake", or to be more precise, ONE of the descriptions of such) Morgana is also a "Fae" or "Fay" which is a fairy. I know this is getting confusing, but remember, Morgana, for me, is symbolic of part of God and the rest is just a description.
Other qualities show her not only as "devine mother" but also a librarian, a healer, a seeker of pure souls, and protector of ancient ways. She is the representation that appeals to me most.

As for choice of faith ... you can choose what ever you want . I will respect it to the best of my ability.
But when faith degrades another or goes against human rights or if yours is of peace and love and understanding but act totally opposite to that then I may have something to say about it.

I don't think Nina needs therapy at all............Whatever our beliefs or non-beliefs, we all go through periods when nothing goes right, everything we touch turns to shit, times when we wonder what the fuck is happening to us and the universe.
I suppose at such times we tend to think of it in terms of our belief system, or our circumstances at the time, whatever - whether it be our ex, our parents, God/the Devil, friends /enemies, etc.etc. In Nina's case it seems to be good witch/bad witch - so what, it doesn't mean she's going mental, and needs seeing to, it's just the way she sees it at the moment......
I see her as a well-balanced person, who seems to be asking people of like mind what they think, more out of curiosity than trauma.
Seems like no big deal to me - just ebb and flow of life - I always keep going, try to keep a good attitude, and wait for the tide to turn - it usually does.............

the problem with modern society is that people of all faiths have been spoon fed science and made to think it explains EVERYTHING.
they say, oh i believe in god, an afterlife, etc., but gulp down medications by the handfull to try to live to be 100 friggin years old, scared to death of death, and change.
some people have faith, some don't, and some it is a mixture of faith and doubt, then there is just stupidity on both fronts.
