    Electric Circus (1988-2003)

This classic dance show was a huge staple on MuchMusic and Citytv, back in the days of the old CHUM Empire.

Sure, the show may seem cheesy now, and maybe some of the dancers were not good, but come on! How could you hate on a show that had wonderful dance music, (Before 2001 or so), and a very innovative, (IMO), idea on turning the CHUM City Building into a huge dance studio?!

I used to watch this show pretty religiously as a kid back in the late 90's and early 2000's. It was a great way to start the weekend for me, as it always got me into a dancing mood.

I was only around to see Juliette Powell, (My favourite host), and Nadine Ramkisson, (Who I heard was a huge...well, you know), as I stopped watching it once they brought in the stupid VJs from MuchMusic. I was too young to know of Monika Deol, as I have heard that she was a great host.

This show did come back in 2006, for a brief Christmas special...but it absolutely sucked!

Yep! While I wasn't around for SCTV in its' original run, I did watch most of its' episodes, thanks to the Comedy Network.

I did catch an episode that looked at that spoof!

If your at all interested take a look at the first youtube for Mel's you put up. Staring at about 2:30 to 3:20 there are shots of Rick Moranis. I was the spitting image in that video when I was in my mid 20's.

I used to frequent the Jarvis House(?) back in the early to mid '70s around the corner from The Old Fire Hall on Lombard St. Most of the SCTV guys came from TOFH. Every once in a while I'd be mistaken for Moranis when I was imbibing, it was an easy way to keep my drinking costs down.

I remember this show. I thought then, and still think, that this had to be the stupidest idea for a show in the history of the planet. Obviously there were people that watched it since it lasted so long but still. Only plus was some of the dancing girls were lacking sufficient clothing and were good looking.
