When it comes to movies from my childhood, this film and its' first sequel were one of the many quintessential titles that represented that innocent time. I had absolutely loved these two films as a kid, as I wouldn't doubt it for a second if you told me that I ended up quoting from both of them, without any regard as to what some of the sayings meant in it. (Don't worry, folks. I was not swearing...I hope!)

For the longest time, I remembered liking the second one more than the original, though I think it was mostly because of the brutal booby traps in that one. (So, that's where I got my interest and love for dark humour!)

Nowadays, and thanks to having an older mind, I have now started to love the original more, now. I swear, I cannot believe that the messages of family and being with your loved ones went over my head, as a kid! Though, that's easy to realize that since...well...I was a kid!

I also love the fact that I can understand some of the adult humour in this now, such as some of the swear words said by Harry and Marv, and Harry's little threat to Kevin, having getting his teeth kicked in with the paint can.

"You bomb me one more, kid, and I snap off your cojones and boil them in motor oil!"

I could go on about this film and its' sequel. Nowadays, I may not watch them as much as I used to, but I do still love them.

And like many other Christmas movies, it isn't Christmas in our household until I see them!

My son has the whole Home Alone box set. He loves these movies. He of course likes the parts where the bad guys get hit with the 'cartoon' violence.
