    From CTV News:

Giants win Super Bowl 21-17 over the Patriots

    CTVNews.ca Staff

Date: Sun. Feb. 5 2012 11:14 PM ET

The New York Giants won the Super Bowl 21-17 over the New England Patriots in a game that went down to the wire with an unsuccessful Hail Mary pass by Pats quarterback Tom Brady.

The Giants took the lead with less than one minute to go in the game, but the touchdown gave the Patriots time for one final drive down the field.

Ahmad Bradshaw was supposed to stop short of running the ball into the end zone so the Giants could set up a field goal and eat up time.

But he fell backwards into the end zone for the touchdown, giving the Pats 57 seconds to score.

But the drive fell flat and Brady' last-ditch cannon down the field hit a crush of Patriots and Giants in the end zone, bouncing off helmets and falling to the ground.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning took Super Bowl MVP honours, just as he did four years ago when his team beat the Patriots, ruining there perfect season.

"It's been a wild game, a wild season," Manning said after the game. "This isn't about one person. It's about one team, a team coming together."

Manning's big night occurred in Indianapolis, where older brother Peyton has reigned as one of the NFL's all-time greatest quarterbacks.

The Patriots had gone into halftime with a one-point lead after Brady hit Danny Woodhead for a touchdown with eight seconds left in the second quarter.

The Pats then padded their lead early in the game's second half when Brady found Aaron Hernandez in the end zone to cap a 76-yard drive.

But the Giants hipped away at the Patriots' lead in the third quarter, scoring two field goals to pull within 2 points.

Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes hit a 38-yard field goal with just under 7 minutes to go in the third quarter and a 33-yarder with just 35 seconds left to bring the score to 17-15 Patriots.

With a minute to go in the game and the Giants at the Patriots' six-yard line, Bradshaw took a handoff from Manning and crouched down as he approached the end zone. Patriots coach Bill Belichick even allowed his defence to let Bradshaw go, hoping a score would give his team enough time to answer. Brackshaw spun around and fell backward, leading to a touchdown, and the Giants failed on their two-point conversion attempt.

"I was yelling to him, 'Don't score, don't score,"' Manning said. "He tried to stop, but he fell into the end zone."

But in the end the Patriots drive ended with Brady walking off the field as the Giants players celebrated.

The Giants had led for much of the first half, having opened the scoring on a strange play that saw Brady called for intentional grounding in the end zone eight minutes into the first quarter. Brady threw the ball away under heavy pressure from Giants lineman Justin Tuck, putting the Giants up 2-0 on the safety.

The Super Bowl has opened scoring on a safety only one other time, back in 1975 when the Steelers beat the Vikings.

Manning then padded the lead by finding Victor Cruz in the end zone with three minutes to go in the quarter.

But the second quarter was all New England, first with a 29-yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski. Then Brady went 10 for 10 as he led his team down the field and hit Woodhead for a touchdown with eight seconds left in the half.

The 14-play, 96-yard march tied drives in 1986 and 2010 for the longest ever in a Super Bowl.

The halftime score masked a brilliant start by Manning, who went 9 for 9 for 77 yards. He is the first quarterback to open a Super Bowl with nine consecutive completions.

The Pats seemed to get energized by the halftime break, while fans got a show by 50-plus pop icon Madonna. While her back-up dancers were smooth and her show was filled with cameos -- from LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cee Lo Green -- the Material Girl herself seemed unsteady on her stilettos.

Patriots fans got a scare in the fourth quarter when a sack sent Tom Brady to the sidelines favouring his left shoulder, but he remained in the game. The hard hit followed 16 consecutive completions by Brady, which set a Super Bowl record. The previous mark of 13 was held by Brady's idol Joe Montana, set in 1990.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said after the game he always felt the big game was within his team's reach.

"What I was concerned with was these guys making their own history," Coughlin said. "This is such a wonderful thing, these guys carving their own history."

Me too. My son will attest to the words "In Your Face Pretty Boy" coming out of my mouth after it was over.

Gisele Bundchen Blasts Tom Brady's Teammates
    Airdate : 2/6/2012

Gisele Bundchen is ripping into husband Tom Brady's teammates and triggering outrage among already-hurting Patriots fans.

Bundchen watched from a V.I.P. box as her husband's team went down to defeat.

Time and again, perfectly good throws from Brady were dropped.

Bundchen gave Brady a consoling hug when they met after the game. But the supermodel was caught on tape trashing the Patriots' wide receivers.

"They didn't catch the ball when you're supposed to catch the ball," she said. "My husband cannot throw the (blanking) ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."

Her tirade is causing a firestorm in Boston.

Howie Carr of WRKO radio in Boston said, "Tom obviously needs to say something."

Carr said Brady should give his wife this advice: "Keep your mouth shut. And don't say anything except 'Hi, how are you?' "

"She should never have thrown Tom's teammates under the speeding bus," wrote one blogger.

"Not cool to curse at people and even worse to criticize your husband's teammates in public," said another.

"Sore loser!" said a third blogger.

But Bundchen has some supporters too.

"She was defending her husband," says one. "Leave her alone."

Bundchen has long been viewed by some Patriots fans as a jinx on her husband and his team.

One newspaper recently called her: "Jinxelle Bundchen."

    After Sunday's defeat, a fan blogged: "She's a curse."

While triumphant Giants quarterback Eli Manning was celebrating with 11-month-old daughter Ava Frances and wife Abby, Brady and Bundchen, by contrast, were both glum as they commiserated with each other in a stadium corridor.

Her angry blast at her husband's teammates came right after she was taunted by Giants fans, who yelled, "Eli rules. Eli owns your husband."

Yes, obviously the loss could not have been the fault of Pretty Boy.

On a different note, a company bought a whole bunch of butterfingers and dumped them in a Boston square with a thank you note to Wes Welker.

More Details on Gisele Bundchen's Super Bowl Reaction Airdate : 2/7/2012

Just-found video of supermodel Gisele Bundchen's now notorious rant at her husband's teammates has surfaced.

In the video obtained by INSIDE EDITION, hunky quarterback Tom Brady can be seen shortly after the big loss, making his way down an undergound tunnel at the stadium, looking grim-faced. Bundchen ran up behind and threw her arms around him, offering words of comfort.

"You played the best game of your life. You were amazing," said Bundchen.

Brady gave a tight smile before telling her that he couldn't leave just yet.

"I'll be a few minutes," he said.

What Brady didn't know was that his wife had just unleashed the cussing rant heard around the world telling a taunting Giants fan, "My husband cannot throw the (blanking) ball and catch the ball at the same time."

Photos of Bundchen in a VIP box show her watching the game in horror. Her ire was apparently directed at receivers like Wes Welker, who dropped a crucial pass in the last minutes of the game.

Now, even the hometown newspaper of the New England Patriots is calling out Bundchen.

"Super Brat," says today's front page of the Boston Herald.

INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander spoke to Dawn Neufeld of the Vh1 reality show Football Wives. Dawn's husband, Ryan Neufeld played for the Buffalo Bills for seven years.

Dawn said, "Gisele basically broke a code. For the guys, they call it sort of a 'Code of Brotherhood.' And the wives, we have to sort of abide by what they need to do. You never, ever, ever, under any circumstance, throw a teammate under the bus."

Alexander asked, "How would you advise Gisele to move forward from this?"

"I think if she owns up to it, apologizes, realizes she may have been out of line, I think people will be able to move on. Hey listen, Gisele is not the reason why the Pats lost that game on Sunday."

The wife of one of Brady's teammates is quoted as saying, "Gisele has very few friends among the wives. She doesn't make it easy to like her, since she obviously feels so superior to all of us."

Bundchen has long been known for speaking her mind, says fashion insider Katrina Szish.

Szish told INSIDE EDITION, "We know Gisele as a supermodel, but she is also super outspoken. If she doesn't like something, she'll let you know. If she thinks something, she'll speak her mind."

    Backlash Continues for Gisele Bundchen
    Airdate : 2/8/2012

Embattled Gisele Bundchen is getting support from a surprising source—Donald Trump.

INSIDE EDITION caught up with The Donald in New York Wednesday at a publicity event for Celebrity Apprentice.

"I think she was great in what she said. She was sticking up for her man. She was right. They were dropping passes all over the place. He was throwing the ball beautifully and they were dropping passes," said Trump.

But in Boston, the vitriol has reached a fever pitch since Sunday's big loss, followed by that now notorious rant against her husband Tom Brady's teammates. Check out this headline: "Has Gisele Become The Most Hated Woman In Boston?"

The columnists are having a field day.

"Gisele Bundchen, all beauty, little brains." (Source: Boston Herald)

And talk show host Wendy Williams says, Bundchen deserves it.

Williams said, "Of course she's the most hated woman in Boston. What woman has not said five words too many to defend her man? But saying it at the Super Bowl on national TV with cameras present was the stupidest thing this woman could have ever done."

Brady is also coming under heat for putting his penthouse duplex in Boston on the market. The asking price is $10.9 million. Some see it as Brady distancing himself from the city. He and Bundchen have set up their home base at an incredible estate in Los Angeles.
