    Gerryh: Doesn't a good furnace inspection include a check of the chimney or at least the pipes leading to the chimney?
    I happened to be home when the guy came over a month ago and since I have a high efficiency gas furnace, he even checked all the joints in the abs pipe going outside, and made sure that the condensate drain was flowing properly...........

    A seven year old high efficiency Oil furnace.
    Last year it checked out pristine. They guy even showed me.
    Just the humidifier leak dripping on it that did it in.

    Yes, you are right Owl. All components of the furnace and venting should be checked at LEAST every 2 years.
